These records can be searched by surname and forename of the
deponent, spouse forename and year range.

| Spouse name |
Many records contain the spouse forename, which can be searched.
eg. Searching surname smith, forename charles, year range 1699-1722,
will find 3 records:
(1) deponent Ann Smith with husband Charles
(2) deponent Margaret Smith with husband
Charles
(3) deponent Charles Smith.
Searching on surname smith, forename ann for the same period, you
will find 1 record:
(1) deponent Ann Smith with husband
Charles.
Searching on surname smith, forename margaret you will find one
record:
(1) deponent Margaret Smith with husband
Charles.
Searching for surname smith, forename ann, spouse forename charles,
you will find one record
(1) deponent Ann Smith with husband
Charles.

| Choosing the year range |
Year in these records is the date of the deposition, so could lie
anytime during a wide period of the deponent's life. Allow for a wide range of
years when searching.

| Use New Style dates |
Use only New Style dates when searching, eg. enter Year range 1702 to 1706
will find records from 1 January 1701/2 to 31 December 1706. Dates in the
original records are Old Style but dates in the index appear in both Old and
New Style, eg. 1 Jan 1679/80

The LMA reference is to the actual deposition, kept at the London Metropolitan Archives (LMA), where it can be viewed and copied.
